Janet

Janet is broke to both ride and pack, but she’s truly in her element under a load. She’s the ideal size and build for packing — compact, sturdy, and sure-footed. I’ve used her to haul out game, camping gear, salt, T-posts — you name it. She’s careful with her pack, mindful of trees and obstacles, and doesn’t bump or brush against things on the trail.

I’ve trusted her with thousands of dollars' worth of gear at a time — spotting scopes, camera equipment, and other valuables — and she’s never let me down. She’s an easy keeper, with solid feet, a clean bill of health, and the kind of conformation that makes carrying weight look effortless.

I ride her as well, but she’s always been my go-to pack mule!

She is 8 years old and 14.1-14.2 hands tall.
